Man Dies in Suspected DUI Collision on Fernside Boulevard

ALAMEDA, CA (September 9, 2021) – Authorities closed down Cambridge Drive after a fatal DUI Crash that killed Nicholas Bianchi on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m., at the intersection of Cambridge Drive and Fernside Boulevard.

According to the authorities, a northbound vehicle drove through a stop sign and struck an SUV, sending it off the road and into a residential home.

Due to the impact, 27-year-old Nicholas Bianchi died in the crash. According to his father, Nicholas was on his way home from jet skiing when the speeding driver t-boned his SUV.

On Wednesday, authorities took custody of the suspect for DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

At this time, Alameda officers continue to investigate the incident.
