LAWeekly Instagram: Featuring the culture of LA since 1978 ✌️

On October 16 at Ace Mission Studios, a sold-out L On October 16 at Ace Mission Studios, a sold-out Los Angeles crowd gathered for the release of Sara Landry’s second album “Divine Intervention” on her own label HEKATE. She still had a few minutes left, so she reached for her friend Alt8’s edit of “Sweet Nothing,” climbed onto the decks, and danced. Landry mixed the 14-track record herself, tested the songs in secret as unannounced IDs, and kept the masters. Fully independent, she says the album largely decided its own shape — a progression through hard bounce, psytechno, and psytrance that starts in one place and ends in another. That same sense of connection runs through how she talks about the music. “My relationship with the divine is very strong,” she said. Fans leaving the room reached for the same language: church, something that lifts you up.   Los Angeles has been part of the story since her first show outside Texas in 2021. Latino fans have long shown up in force for her sets. Her own roots reach into Mexico City through her grandmother, and she keeps a folder of Latin techno tracks ready for the right moment. @saralandrydj

Fleurs de Villes THE GILDED AGE brings the HBO ser Fleurs de Villes THE GILDED AGE brings the HBO series’ lavish fashion and memorable characters to life through floral mannequins at the historic Greystone Mansion and Gardens in Beverly Hills. “Hundreds of hours go into one model,” says Fleurs de Villes founder Karen Marshall. More than a dozen local florists transformed thousands of fresh blooms, tropical leaves and preserved botanicals into intricate portraits of the show’s cast, including Bertha Russell, Peggy Scott and Mrs. Astor. Even the hair is made entirely from botanical materials. The exhibition winds through the mansion’s historic rooms and terrace, complete with a floral staircase worthy of the Russell family. Best in Show went to Bloom Bloom Floral Boutique’s Bertha Russell design. The exhibition runs through Nov. 4. @fleursdevilles

LA’s speed cameras are live, so we built an overla LA’s speed cameras are live, so we built an overlay with each location that you can add directly to your Google Maps app in full detail. On Monday, Oct. 26, the city switched on the first 26 of 125 camera corridors, and the rest are set to go up by the end of the year. We mapped every monitored stretch of road, with live cameras in red and the ones coming soon in purple. It’s free, and you can add it to Google Maps on your phone or computer in about a minute. For now they only send warnings. After each camera’s 60-day grace period, going 11+ mph over the limit will cost you $50 to $500, mailed to the car’s registered owner. Be sure to always drive safe and within the speed limit. Link and more details in bio @laweekly 🗺️ @boyface_
