Cops today were looking for a reputed robber in the double homicide of a Chatsworth couple. News reports indicated the bodies of the young pair were found decomposing in an alley and that the smell prompted neighbors to call authorities.
They guy they're looking for is 43-year-old Brent D. Zubek. Los Angeles police plainclothes officers reportedly came across the suspect as he drove around the Valley yesterday but they lost sight of him.
KTLA News reports the man, the son of a cop, spent time behind bars for robbery:
Family members tell KTLA Zubeck, whose father was a veteran Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy, spent 16 years in prison for bank robberies across the Los Angeles area.
Witnesses told reporters the man-woman couple rented a room in the home in front of the alley where the bodies were found. Reports indicated Zubeck might have lived there at some point too.
That discovery of the victims, according to an LAPD statement, was made Friday in the 20400 block of Lassen Street in Chatsworth.
After cops spotted the suspect driving around the Valley and lost track of him over the weekend, they found his truck in a handicap spot at a Gelson's market on Milbank Street and Van Nuys Boulevard, according to KTLA. Security video captured Zubeck walking away, according to the station.
