After protesters on Tuesday decried a massive, mixed-use development in West Los Angeles, representatives of the proposed, 12-acre Bundy Village and Medical Center struck back, alleging that the demonstration was staged by a rival developer.
"Kilroy Realty Corporation is out in front trying to coax some members of the community to oppose Bundy Village, a proposed senior housing and medical office project," reads a statement to LA Weekly from Cerrell Associates, the public relations firm representing the builder behind Bundy Village, Stonebridge Holdings. "From the pictures of [Tuesday's] 'protest' we see Justin Smart, Senior Vice-President of Development at Kilroy front and center."

Bundy Village backers say a campaign by Kilroy Realty in 2002 to stop a 46-acre El Segundo office development project by a rival developer points to its motives in the Bundy Village saga: Kilroy allegedly wants to kill off competition.
Still, we're sure there are plenty of genuine residents in Bundy Village's prospective Sawtelle community who aren't too happy with the idea of seeing 385 residential units, retail and medical space, and 21,000 new car trips in their neighborhood. Village proponents say traffic flow will actually be improved and that 77 of those units (one out of five) will be dedicated to senior and affordable housing.
Westside Councilman Bill Rosendahl says he's behind the project:
"I strongly believe in housing and medical facilities for seniors ...," he's quoted by Curbed LA as saying. "My population is aging, and the idea of having housing and health care in the same building is a win-win."
