Vampire Weekend's sophomore album emerges from the ether on January 12th, but wouldn't you know it, we have a first listen for you! Our friends at KCRW will be streaming Contra (Up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-b-a-start, anyone?) in its entirety from January 5th to the 18th. The Lion King-inspired, future Jimmy Buffets will appear on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic with a horn and string section on January 11th, which you can watch live while pretending to work. Until then listen to the album now in a forum far less annoying than their Myspace page.

Or just view our exclusive media after the jump:

Instead of providing a video from their new album, West Coast Sound thinks it is a much better exercise in cultural awareness if our dear reader does the following:

Play Vampire Weekend while watching Nigeria's finest piece of cinema: Baby Police.

It's the cross-cultural soundtrack you've been waiting for.

You're welcome.
