There are many reasons why New Orleans is awesome. Here are five, in no particular order of sexual preference. But because this is New Orleans we're talking about, you can rest assured that they are NSFW, to say the least.

A: The Sissy Rap meme never took off, unfortunately, because it's one of the only known instances of the historically homophobic hip hop genre embracing an “alternative”/non-hetero lifestyle:

UPDATE 11:00 A.M.: We just received word from Echo Park Records'/A Club Called Rhonda's Alexis Rivera that N.O. Sissy Rap pioneer Big Freedia is playing A Club Called Rhonda on Wednesday, March 3. We'll offer more info as the time arrives, but this should be a wild night for sure.
