There must be something in the water. Minneapolis doesn't seem like the funkiest of places but the home of Prince has spawned another super-groovy baby: Solid Gold. Their heavy groove is driven by thick bass, poppy synths and catchy hooks, all of which create a fire in your feet that can't be cured by tough actin' Tinactin. Move 'em, stomp 'em, stop, drop, and/or roll, extreme dancing is the only remedy. Tonight at the Troubadour, Solid Gold join forces with Jamie Lidell, the U.K. electro-soul sensation as he tours to support his upcoming record, Compass, to be released on May 17th. Lidell's new material is cripplingly funky. Knees go will weak when the bass drops and Lidell blasts those soulful croons.

Solid Gold will return to L.A. on May 2nd to play Spaceland and will hopefully enlist Fool's Gold, Sugar & Gold, Goldspot, and Santigold for some more shimmery action.
