It's July at Los Angeles farmers markets, which means some pretty spectacular tomatoes and stone fruit and citrus, plus eggplant and artichokes and lettuces and, well, we could go on. On Wednesday afternoons for the last few weeks, the Altadena farmers market has been in full swing, making it well worth the trip up into the San Gabriel foothills. It's a small market but a beautifully curated one. Look for not only some terrific fruit and vegetable vendors but also coffee from Plow & Gun, cheese and butter from Milk Man and bread from Bread Lounge — Altadena is the only farmers market that downtown bakery currently attends. Check out our virtual grocery list, taken at the Altadena market yesterday. And yes, it tastes as good as it looks.
