Science fiction carries with it a certain necessary willing suspension of disbelief, but even the most beloved and involved science fiction occasionally falls short of the mark. It's like the difference between Trekkers and Trekkies, or between Star Trek and Star Trak. Fans Matt Mira and Kumail Nanjiani really do love Star Trek, but they're not so slavishly devoted that they can't occasionally be cruel to be kind. During their Star Dreck night at Nerdist Theater, they look back over all incarnations of Star Trek (possibly including the cartoon) and lampoon the episodes that just didn't work (what, no dancing Uhura from Star Trek V?). Past guests have included the endlessly patient and good-humored Wil Wheaton (aka Ensign Wesley Crusher). They're accompanied tonight by comedian Todd Glass and actor Tom Lennon in a mission to put Star Trek into its proper perspective: It's something you love, but not necessarily all the time. Meltdown Comics, Nerdist Theater, 7522 Sunset Blvd., Hlywd.; Tues., June 26, 8 p.m.; $10. (323) 851-7223, meltcomics.com.
