20-Year-Old Killed in Traffic Crash on Vanowen Street

CANOGA PARK, CA (July 1, 2022) – A hit-and-run on DeSoto Avenue claimed the life of Nelson Castaneda Tuesday morning.

The crash happened on June 28th at 12:30 a.m. on DeSoto Avenue and Vanowen Street, according to police.

Furthermore, reports revealed that a Dodge Ram truck ran through a red light and then struck a Lexus in the area.

Because of the collision the driver of the Lexus, later identified as 20-year-old Nelson Castaneda, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

According to authorities, the truck was travelling at high speeds prior to the crash and fled the scene after the incident.

Meanwhile, LAPD conducted a search operation to the suspect who fled the scene.

An active investigation into the crash is underway.
