32-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Crash near North 2nd Street

EL CAJON, CA (January 13, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Nancy Annette Lisa Benson was killed in a fiery 2-car collision on Interstate 8.

The fatal incident happened around 4:30 a.m., on eastbound I-8 near the North 2nd Street off-ramp.

According to the CHP, the driver of a 2002 Audi TT traveled off the roadway for reasons unknown, and hit a tree before colliding with a Honda CR-V. Upon impact, one of the vehicles caught on fire.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the Audi driver dead at the scene. The San Diego County coroner’s office later identified the deceased victim as 32-year-old Benson, of Lemon Grove.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old male Honda driver from El Cajon and his 51-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. No further details regarding the Interstate 8 two-vehicle crash have been released to the public.
