USC associate professor of journalism and former LA Weekly scribe Josh Kun signs and discusses his latest book, And You Shall Know Us by the Trail of Our Vinyl: The Jewish Past as Told by the Records We Have Loved and Lost, with everyone's favorite half-Vulcan, half-human, Spock/Leonard Nimoy. Kun, along with co-author Roger Bennett, combed the globe to collect 40 years' worth of vinyl LPs of forgotten Jewish music, and hair. (Remember Barbra's perm? How about Barry Manilow before the face-lifts?) Neil Sedaka provided the book's foreword, and further commentary comes courtesy of Etgar Keret, Sandra Bernhard, L.A. Times music critic Anne Powers, and even Norman Lear. So don't throw out bubby's records. They'll be hip again one day.
