25-Year-Old Woman Dies, Police Officer Injured in Pedestrian Accident near Southern Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (November 21, 2022) – Early Wednesday morning, a pedestrian collision on 31st Avenue claimed the life of Nakita Lupe.
The incident happened near the intersection of 31st Avenue and Southern Avenue. Officers say 25-year-old Lupe was struck by a vehicle in the area.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, Lupe was pronounced dead at the scene. Upon investigating the incident, a police officer was struck by a vehicle that passed through the scene.
Upon impact, the involved officer suffered minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was assessed for a possible DUI incident.
Consequently, the driver was booked to Maricopa County Jail with unknown charges. An active investigation is still currently underway.
