Once a year, Naja's Place — situated on the waterfront of King Harbor Marina in Redondo Beach for 30-plus years — dedicates more than half of its 88 taps to a hophead's dream lineup of India Pale Ales. From Thursday, May 3, when it opens at 2 p.m., to Thursday, May 10, when it closes at 1 a.m., a diverse selection of the best IPAs and double IPAs in the world will be available to wreak havoc on your palate. With names like Ballast Point Tongue Buckler and Green Flash Palate Wrecker, the brewers make no secret of their desire to push the boundaries of hoppiness in beer to its limits.

Featured brewers will include Russian River, Ballast Point, Firestone Walker, Beachwood, Strand, Mikkeller, Sierra Nevada, Flying Dog, Great Divide, Green Flash and too many others to name. A few of the special brews that beer bar manager Big Jay Outsen has lined up are Sierra Nevada's Flipside DIPA, Great Divide's 18th Anniversary DIPA, local favorite Strand's White Sand DIPA, Beachwood's brand-new Citraholic IPA and Firestone Walker's Wookey Jack Black Rye IPA. Outsen tells us, “New and different IPAs will be tapped every time a keg blows so, in past years, many hop fans end up coming back throughout the week for maximum sampling.”

The 12-ounce commemorative glass will cost you $5 and the pours cost between $5 and $7 each, depending on the beer and the pour size. On Saturdays, Naja's has reggae band Urban Dread playing from 2-6 p.m. and rock band The Land Sharks from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Land Sharks play again from 2-6 p.m. on Sundays in case you prefer live music with your hops.
