A Latino man who was shot to death on January 17 was later identified as 34-year-old Nahun Chavez. LAPD officers were notified of the crime by someone who found Chavez on the ground outside a Florence home at 3 a.m.

The residence was on the 100 block of West 173rd Street, just off a busy section of Main Street.

The coroner's report showed Chavez had been shot once in the neck. After being transported to a nearby hospital, the 34-year-old was declared dead.

At the time, City News Service reported the victim's first name as Edjardo, but the coroner later listed him as Nahun.

Detectives were not able to identify any suspects or possible motives in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
