Since August 2010 the small storefront on Santa Monica Boulevard and Colby Avenue posted signage that Naan Hut was “coming soon.” After driving by the space numerous times over the past several months, we weren't sure it would ever open. But behold the Persian restaurant, specializing in naan, adjacent to Froplay Yogurt, is now open for business. They may not be fully functional just yet, but there's plenty of naan to go around.

“It will be at least a few weeks until we start serving other kinds of food,” said owner Saeed Mohammadi. The restaurant is testing out different chefs and recipes for the menu which will consist primarily of kabobs, koubideh, tadik, soups and salads. This is the first restaurant for Persian-Swedish Mohammadi, who has a background in mechanical engineering.

Naan Hut's hours of operation over the next few weeks may vary, until the final menu is set in place. However, customers can call in to arrange a time to purchase naan even when the restaurant is not open to the public.
