Two Men Killed in Car Crash near Imperial Highway

DOWNEY, CA (July 25, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a solo-vehicle crash on Downey Avenue left Mynor Medina and Fabian Armas Cortes dead. The deadly crash happened around 5:10 a.m. in the area of Downey Avenue and Imperial Highway. According to the Downey Police Department, a car crashed into a tree. However, the circumstances that led up to the collision remain unclear. Tragically, the first responders declared the two occupants of the vehicle dead at the scene. The medical examiner’s office later identified the victims as 27-year-old Mynor Medina of Fotana and 34-year-old Fabian Armas Cortes. Cortes’ city of residence is currently undisclosed. At 5:11 a.m., authorities issued a SigAlert to temporarily shut down the east and westbound lanes of Imperial Highway, from Downey Avenue to Paramount Boulevard. Those with further information regarding the solo-vehicle crash are encouraged to contact local authorities as soon as possible.
