Los Lobos' joyful, rollicking version of “I Wanna Be Like You” (The Monkey Song) from The Jungle Book appeared on the 1988 compilation Stay Awake, along with Suzanne Vega, Tom Waits and Sinead O'Connor and others taking on Disney classics. It only took the band a couple decades to put out the all-Disney compilation, Los Lobos Goes Disney — a godsend for those of us parents who find that most children's music makes us want to throw ourselves under the wheels on the bus. (And as far as, “Old MacDonald” — that one can go live in the barn for e-i-e-i-eons.) Before their nighttime show tonight at Royce Hall, Los Lobos will play a special show at a family-friendly hour this weekend, where you can let your hair down to their roots-rocking versions of “Cruella De Vil,” “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” and “Bare Necessities.” And if you're one of those child-free adults who likes to dance like a monkey, this is the show for you.

Sat., Jan. 30, 2 & 8 p.m., 2010
