Coldplay

Parachutes (Parlophone)

Coldplay were the first band I ever got into. I remember going to their concert in 2008, and I knew that after watching that that my dream was to play shows and write music like that. You know when you become obsessed with a new band and you just want to buy every album, listen to every deep cut and buy all of their merch? That was me with this band. But when I bought their album Parachutes, it really struck a chord with me.

One of my favorite things that I find super inspiring is looking back on huge artist’s old albums and hearing where they came from. The songwriting is honest. It was the album I would put on in any emotional situation — whether I was feeling sad or happy or unsure. It’s one of those albums I can listen to a thousand times and never get tired of, and every time I listen to it I feel really inspired to write or play music.

Eliza & the Delusionals plays with Silversun Pickups at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5 at the Observatory; then at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 7 at the Wiltern.
