Outkast

Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (LaFace/Arista)

My all time favorite album would probably be Outkast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. It just hit me at a time in my life where I was open to so many different types of music. The album perfectly melded so many different genres into itself without feeling forced or overly disconnected. The music videos for “Roses” and “Hey Ya!” just stuck with me creatively along with the project as a whole. With any album there were a few songs that weren’t as immediately impactful, but I would say from an influence perspective this project in its entirety was deeply important to me and taught me to break the rules artistically.
