Trinosophes are hosting shows on the sidewalk outside of the venue, and they note that masks must be worn and there are no public restrooms available. So be warned.

This Saturday and then again on October 10, jazz musician Yusef Lateef’s 100th birthday (he died in 2013 at 93) will be celebrated with a performance by Lateef protégée Alex Harding alongside Joel Peterson and David Hurley. Rare Lateef books, CDs and scores will be available for purchase.

Before that, on Friday, October 2, the Trinosophes-associated label Two Rooms will be kicking off a new digital download series on Bandcamp, “created to accelerate the pace of our releases and generate income for artists during this time of financial crisis. Kicking off the series is percussion dynamo Tatsuya Nakatani with Joel Peterson (double-bass, fretless guitar) and Matthew Smith (Moog synth). Recorded live in Detroit during 2019,  this first-meeting of the trio straddles multiple worlds of creative music in a single set.

Although we remain committed to producing physical media, there’s is no denying the low overhead and global accessibility of digital releases.  Visit Bandcamp this Friday, October 2 to purchase your copy of the recording and Bandcamp will waives all fees, devoting 100% sales to participating artists.”

Yusef Lateef Centennial Streetside Celebration takes place at 6 p.m. PT on Saturday, October 3 and 11 a.m. PT on Saturday, October 10, at Trinosophes.
