At the time of writing, there are just two and a half more days to suffer before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are sworn in. The time since the November 3 election — normally a period of political nothingness — has been utterly tortuous, but it’s nearly over and hopefully it will pass without violent incident.

What we do know, from a musical perspective, is that Lady Gaga will be singing the National Anthem, and Jennifer Lopez will perform during the morning’s official proceedings too. Hamilton star Christopher Jackson will be at the Creative Coalition’s Presidential Inaugural Ball, and then later on Tom Hanks will present the “Celebrating America” Primetime Special. Musicians scheduled to appear there include Demi Lovato, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Ant Clemons, and John Legend.

There won’t be the crowds of norm, obviously due to the ongoing pandemic and domestic terrorism threat. But it will feel celebratory nonetheless.

In addition, Biden and Harris have dropped a killer playlist to celebrate the inauguration, featuring the likes of  Burna Boy, Dua Lipa, Tame Impala and SZA, as well as oldies from Led Zeppelin and the Average White Band. Find it on Spotify.

Tune in at 8:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday, January 20 for the Swearing-In Ceremony, then at 3 p.m. PT for the Creative Coalition’s Presidential Inaugural Ball, then at 5:30 p.m. PT for the “Celebrating America” Primetime Special, via bideninaugural.org or on all major networks.
