Around the same time that the Strokes were topping the charts, the White Stripes were leading the charge from Detroit, and the likes of the Vines and the Datsuns were emerging from Down Under, the Hives were among the top names in Scandinavian garage rock. The Swedish rockers’ Veni Vidi Vicious album and the accompanying “Hate to Say I Told You So” were and are fiery blasts of rabble-rousing hard rock.

It’s been a while since they released new material, but they’re midway through a virtual “world tour” which sees them remain safely at home but performing unique gigs for each city. Berlin, New For and London have passed. This week, they “play” Sydney, São Paulo and Stockholm. So keep an eye on those time differences.
