Indiana R&B artist Omar Apollo has Mexican parents, and he sings in both English and Spanish. After a couple of EPs in 2018 and 2019, he dropped his full length debut album, Apolonio, earlier in October. The “Stayback” single came out in August, and Apollo said via a press release:

“‘Stayback’ is a song about being in love for a long period of time. After years of being hurt emotionally, I moved on and decided to treat the relationship as a memory instead of fantasizing it and trying to make it work. When I finished the production, I realized this was the song that I’ve been wanting to make my entire career. My guitar player Oscar killed the solo on it and really brought the whole thing together.”

The latest single is “Kamikaze,” and Apollo is celebrating it all with this show streamed from Prince’s Paisley Park on Wednesday.
