Now that Coachella has come to a close – man, that was a fun 14 weeks! – it's time to start thinking about the big summer festivals. Here, we'll focus on our favorites that happen to be within driving distance of L.A.. 

The talk among many has been Outside Lands, which runs from August 8-10 in San Francisco. As is so often the case these days, it's got a lot of acts repeated from Coachella – at least eight will be on both bills – but, considering that it's got Kanye West, Kacey Musgraves and Run the Jewels on its opening day alone, it's hard to be mad at it.

law logo2x bFYF, which will take place August 23-24 downtown, has yet to announce its lineup, but don't forget about Burger Records' new event Burger a-go-go, August 2 at the Observatory in Santa Ana. The female-centric lineup features Best Coast, Dum Dum Girls, The Muffs, Aquadolls, Colleen Green, and Bleached.

As for Hard Summer, it will be held August 2 and 3 at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. Hard has been incorporating hip-hop, and this year's lineup is particularly exciting, as it features both Pusha T and the A$AP Mob, at a time when the Harlem-based crew's profile has never been higher.

For the most part, Hard has the market cornered on trendy young DJs, and this year has Jack U (Skrillex and Diplo), Disclosure, and Dillon Francis among the headliners. Oh, and Tiesto, who doesn't really fit the mold, but always seems to turn things into a big deal.    

But perhaps the most exciting festival of the summer will be Mad Decent's Block Party. What started as a niche event largely showcasing artists affiliated with Diplo's Mad Decent label has expanded into, well, a blockbuster.

The lineup for the tour – which goes from Ft. Lauderdale to Vancouver this summer – includes Outkast, Dan Deacon, Run the Jewels, Sleigh Bells, Jack U, Riff Raff, A$ap Ferg, Action Bronson, and Chance the Rapper.

The only catch is that the majority of the artists for the Block Party's L.A. stop hasn't been announced yet; all we know so far is Elephant, Diplo, and STRFKR. So who knows who among the above-mentioned names will be there, but even if it's just a few it will likely be a memorable date. 

So get excited! Just as soon as you get over your Coachella lung. 

P.S. Oh, and thanks to commenters for reminding us about Low End Theory Festival (June 14-15) and Jay-Z's Made in America, Aug 30-31. (Even if it could gouge taxpayers.) More great L.A. festivals are listed in the comments section; no offense to any of them, but this post focused on the ones we're most anticipating.
