If you like your art with a chaser of song, catch this program at the Getty Villa that explores the evolution of a new musical genre called opera during the lifetime (1598-1680) of the great Italian sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Celebrated early-music singers Ann Monoyios and Drew Minter, along with the instrumental ensemble ARTEK, perform dramatic cantatas “describing women in extremis” — apparently the musical equivalent of Bernini's art — in a program complementing the exhibition “Bernini and the Birth of Baroque Portrait Sculpture.” Getty Villa; Sat., Oct. 4, 8pm; $20, $15 students & seniors.
