The driver who allegedly ran over a 26-year-old woman with a Cadillac limousine was charged with one count of murder December 9. Nancy Lekon, 43, was arraigned the same day and pleaded not guilty. Her bail was set at $1 million.

Twenty-six-year-old Sonya Tauanuu died after she was hit by a limousine December 3, and dragged nearly a mile through Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. According to the police, Lekon intentionally ran over Tauanuu after the two women got into an argument shortly before 1 a.m. in the 700 block of Ceres Avenue.

The limousine, with the body stuck underneath, pulled to a stop near 5th and Los Angeles streets after a plainclothes officer from the Central Division caught up with the suspect and stopped her.

KTLA reported that the limo actually drove by the Central Division station on East Sixth Street station with the body stuck underneath the vehicle, alerting cops to the alleged crime.

The coroner ruled that Tauanuu died from “multiple severe abrasions.”

Lekon's preliminary hearing is set for December 22.
