A man was shot and killed on October 17 by Los Angeles Police Department officers in what could be a case of “suicide by cop.”

According to police reports, the man called 911 to report that he had killed his girlfriend shortly before 3 am on Saturday. Police went to 3107 Midvale Avenue near Queensland Street and found the man with a gun.

The man kept going in and out of his home with the gun in his hand. He was shot after he pointed the gun at officers. The girlfriend, who was found uninjured inside, told police that her boyfriend, a construction worker, was upset over being unemployed. There is no word yet on the identity of the man.
