A 40-year-old Hispanic male wielding a machete was gunned down August 20 in the 500 block of South Coronado Street, between Sixth and Fifth streets.

According to police reports, Oscar Lopez-Hernandez was carrying a machete when he got into an argument with an Hispanic male who was around the age of 20. Lopez-Hernandez was shot in the chest by the unknown shooter. The incident occurred 7:30 p.m. Police are unclear about why the two men got into an argument but suspect the incident was gang-related.
