A 24-year-old man is sitting in jail today on suspicion of stabbing his 40-year-old mother to death inside her home in Reseda.

Bryan Garcia-Munguia was arrested on June 1 around 11:15 p.m. at a Denny's, near the apartment he shared with his mother, a few minutes after he walked up to his relatives who were standing in the parking lot. He briefly struggled with his uncle before he was detained.

In a dramatic moment that was captured on ABC7, Garcia-Munguia kept saying he didn't do anything to his mother while officers put handcuffs on him.

His mother, Saida Munguia, who taught English as a second language at Kennedy High School in Granada Hills, was found stabbed to death in her apartment in the 7600 block of Reseda Boulevard, near Saticoy Street, around 3 p.m. by family members who found blood on the doorknob of the apartment, leading them to follow a bloody trail. Her body was discovered in a locked bedroom.

Garcia-Munguia was taken into custody eight hours later by officers.

According to police reports, Garcia-Munguia and his mother had a rocky relationship, in particular during the last week.
