The three robbers burst into the man's home around 11:15 a.m. May 31 in the 1600 block of West 215th Street and got into a physical altercation with the victim, who grabbed a handgun from one suspect and shot him in the chest. The 25-year-old Hispanic male was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. His identity has not yet been released.

The other two suspects fled the scene in a silver Honda Civic.

However, mystery surrounds the case. According to news reports, a neighbor was going out for breakfast when he saw a resident outside the house, clutching his face. The two robbers ran past him and drove away.

He was quoted in the Daily Breeze as saying: “They left him behind. “Then we heard the gunshot.”
