A woman who allegedly killed her two teenage daughters by slashing their throats, and then tried to kill herself, was arrested  September 4. She now faces two counts of murder.

Victims: Diana and Edith Gomez

Police believe that Antonia Gomez, 38, attacked two of her three daughters last Wednesday before attempting suicide. Edith Gomez, 11, was discovered by police in her grandmother's house in the 7800 block of Irvine Avenue. Her older sister, Diana Gomez, 16, was found with her mother in a converted garage in the back of the property.

According to media reports, Gomez recently moved into the converted garage with her three daughters after losing a job. She reportedly worried that she would have to move back to Mexico.

Family members told reporters that Gomez was briefly hospitalized for stress. She remains in the hospital in serious condition with knife wounds to her wrists and upper body. Her 14-year-old daughter, who wasn't at home during the brutal September 2 attack, was taken into protective custody.

According to police, a neighbor spotted one of the bodies around 11:40

a.m. and called 911. Anyone with information about the stabbings should

call Foothill Division detectives at (818) 834-3110.
