A black male was fatally shot in the upper torso in an apparent driveby shooting on September 10. College student Kadeemi Forman was walking home from a nearby store with a group of friends at about 9:10 p.m. Thursday, when three black males in a dark-colored vehicle drove past them in the 6800 block of Harvard Boulevard.
Multiple rounds were fired from the car, and Forman was hit several times. Forman's mother Sonia Forman-Jones told Channel 7 that her 19-year-old son made it to a nearby driveway before he collapsed, after which she tried to comfort him. In a teary interview, she told reporters that she still couldn't wash her son's blood from her fingernails. The Inglewood High School graduate was taken to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries.
Police and Forman-Jones said that Forman, who was taking classes at Los Angeles Harbor College, was not a gang member and had dreams of becoming a professional basketball player. He wore black to avoid being mistaken for a gang member. Anyone with information should call 77th Division detectives at (213) 952-6571.
