A 36-year-old Los Angeles woman was shot to death during an argument with her husband August 28 in the West Adams area. Xiomara Lopez's 11-year-old son was also shot during the 11:55 p.m. attack at their home in the 2900 block of Kenwood Avenue, but is expected to survive.

According to police reports, Carlos Lopez, 36, shot his wife several times in front of their three children in one of the children's bedrooms. Police say Xiomara Lopez was holding her three-year-old daughter when she was gunned down. After the shooting, Lopez drove off in a white Toyota Corolla. A short time later, police found the car and the handgun abandoned in the Olympic area of Los Angeles. Lopez was nowhere to be found.
