A 22-year-old man was gunned down as he was getting into his car in South Los Angeles on August 22.

Samuel Leonard was confronted by a African American male who shot him several times outside a liquor store in the 1700 block of West Century Boulevard about 8:10 p.m. Saturday. According to police reports, Leonard, 22, escaped the scene, but later collapsed at a nearby McDonald's. The suspect, who was apparently driving a red pickup truck, was last seen heading northbound on Hobart Boulevard. Leonard died of his injuries at a local hospital. No word yet on the motive or the suspect. Anyone with information should call 77th Division detectives at (213) 485-1383.
