Unidentified gunmen shot Anthony Harris, 24, in South Los Angeles on

August 9 as Harris stood in a crowd gathered in the middle of the road in front of 13008 South Figueroa Street. Police say it is unclear why the crowd had gathered at 2 a.m. early Sunday morning.

The killing occurred a block from the Rio Gentlemen's Club in a largely industrial area near the Harbor (110) Freeway. Police have said that the motive appears to be gang-related and is not connected to the club.

Authorities say the gunmen did not fire into the crowd but targeted Harris, and sped away after gunning him down. Police were alerted through a 911 call, but the crowd had dispersed by the time they arrived. The search for witnesses and suspects is underway. Anyone with information on the case can contact the Southeast Homicide Division at (213) 485-4341.
