The 21-year-old man who was shot to death after being denied entry to a party in Baldwin Hills was identified as the son of a Los Angeles Police Department officer.

According to police reports, Stinson Brown was denied entry to a party taking place in the 4200 block of Don Tapia Place in Baldwin Hills at about 11:45 p.m. on July 17. As he walked away, four men jumped him. One of them shot Brown. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died around 1 a.m.

Brown was the son of Los Angeles Police Department Officer Stinson Brown, who mentors young black males in a non-profit organization called Brother to Brother L.A., which attempts to keep youth out of gangs. The elder Brown works as a training officer at the Los Angeles Police Academy. 

Police arrested two suspects, but two more remain at large. No word on the names of the culprits yet. Anyone with information should contact South Bureau Homicide at (213) 485-4341.
