The teen who was shot to death in the 3700 block of South Normandie Avenue on July 8 has been identified as Dennis Rodgers. In a sad twist of fate, Rodgers, 19, was reportedly gunned down 20 years after his father was killed — almost to the day.

According to police reports, three suspects described as male Hispanics drove in a Honda

to the location, got out of their car and fired several rounds over a fence at Rodgers. Rodgers was shot in the upper chest and later transported to a local hospital, where he died. The police suspect the 10:30 p.m. shooting was gang-related. Anyone with information should call Southwest homicide detectives at (213) 485-1383.
