According to detectives, Gasper Plummer Jr. was standing in the street about 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, in the 2200 block of South Harvard Boulevard, when an unknown shooter opened fire on him. Officers arrived only minutes after a barrage of 911 calls and found the 24-year-old victim dead next to a curb, a few blocks from the home he shared with his father. Detectives said the victim was not a gang member, but they think the slaying could be retaliation for a shooting on June 8 when a Rolling 30's gang member was shot in the face by rivals in the 3000 block of Harvard Boulevard.

Anyone with information regarding this murder is urged to call Southwest Homicide Detectives at (213) 485-1383.
