UPDATE: The victim has now been identified as Aniya Parker.

The cold-blooded murder of a transgender woman in East Hollywood was captured on security video (below).

The video of the early morning crime, obtained by CBS Los Angeles, shows the victim walking down the street, allegedly having her purse taken during a physical attack by three men, and then being shot.

The footage was captured by a security camera at an auto repair shop across the street from the shooting, the business' operator confirmed for us:

The attack at Melrose and North Kenmore avenues was reported at 3 a.m. Thursday, police said. The victim was a 47-year-old from Pasadena, coroner's officials said.

Her name could not be released today because loved ones could not be found to notify them of her death, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Police originally told us that witnesses said two to four men had been involved and that robbery did not appear to be a motive.

After reviewing other security video, however, Los Angeles Police Department Rampart Division investigators now believe this was a robbery gone-sideways, a detective told us today. And he said, indeed, it's clear there were three suspects.

“We do believe that it was initially a robbery and that it was botched somehow and then the homicide happened,” the officer said.

At this point, cops say, the attack isn't being considered as a hate crime. The auto-repair-shop video shows the woman being shot at close range.

The footage was obtained independently by CBS Los Angeles, the investigator said, but “we got several different videos” of the scene.

He said “a lot” of leads have been “coming in,” too.

A vigil for the woman was scheduled for 8 tonight at the scene of the crime. L.A. city Councilman Mitch O’Farrell and representatives of the Los Angeles LGBT Center were expected to be there.
