We're a little biased, but we've got to give it up to LA Weekly contributor Jeff Weiss.

On Saturday night, Spaceland will play host to the second Passion of the Weiss event, and like the first, it's a hugely diverse night full of great music.

This time around, former Weekly cover star Freddie Gibbs headlines.

We know what you're thinking: Hip-hop at Spaceland? But it's happened before.

In fact, San Francisco rapper-on-the-rise DaVinci will be there to support, as will excellent Bay Area garage-popper Hanni El Khatib, and L.A. electronic-pop crew Pollyn.

Which brings us to a sultry, modern reinvention of Suzanne Vega's 1981 hit “Tom's Diner.”
