On Friday frequent LA Weekly contributor Jeff Weiss throws the first in a series of “Passion of the Weiss presents…” shows at Spaceland.

The inaugural fete is headlined by L.A. via Nawlins garage-rap duo the Knux, with support from Philly noir-hoppers 5 O'Clock Shadowboxers and local psych band the Holloys.

Oh, and the Low End Theory's resident master of ceremonies, Nocando (read Weiss' feature), an extremely gifted emcee who's recorded a new song in honor of the occasion.

The show starts at 9 p.m. — ticket info here.

We're told that the genre-bending Knux will be doing some classic rock/punk covers — maybe Neil Young, perhaps some Stooges — as well as unveiling some songs from their forthcoming album on Interscope.

Without futher ado, here's Nocando's “Old Friend.” Nab a few more free MP3s, as well as the quite good 5 O'Clock Shadowboxers EP, at Weiss' blog, Passion of the Weiss.
