With the excitement around Flying Lotus' Cosmogramma settled, say, a millimeter or two, his Brainfeeder label is already readying its next release.

A full-length platter from New York-based producer Lorn, Nothing Else, is due out June 8. Not a whole lot is known about the man except that he can remix the hell out of some Biggie Smalls.

But stylistically speaking, Lorn is a beast on the beat machine — a former scratch DJ who clearly spent some time listening to the fathomless rap noir of D-Styles' classic turntablist docuement, Phantazmagorea.

A quick trip through Nothing Else reveals thick bass, melancholy melodies, eerie textures and dark, dark moods. Percussion is generally spare on these haunted tracks, with bent synthesizer lines taking the foreground.
