The only way Friday the 13th should be celebrated is by watching a triple feature of the Friday the 13th series. Starting at 7:30 p.m., Cinefamily is screening the “Tommy Jarvis trilogy,” which include The Final Chapter, A New Beginning and Jason Lives. Jason Lives director Tom McLoughlin will be in attendance. So prepare yourself for the man with the infamous hockey mask as he racks up a high body count on the unluckiest night.

Saturday, June 14

Once upon a time, a bookstore owner meets a movie star, and his life is changed forever. We're talking, of course, about Notting Hill, starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. Eat|See|Hear, one of L.A.'s many summer outdoor screening series, hosts this event in conjunction with Air New Zealand. One lucky attendee will win a free trip for two to London on Air NZ. The night begins at 5 p.m. with food trucks and music at Santa Monica High School. Free tickets available in advance via Eventbrite.com; dogs are welcome.

Wednesday, June 18

With Last Remaining Seats events selling out quickly, hurry over to laconservancy.org to purchase tickets to Footlight Parade at the Orpheum Theatre. This screening series features classic films in historic theaters all month. In the film, James Cagney is Chester Kent, a failed Broadway director who has turned to creating musical prologues. In order to impress a client, he must produce three prologues at three different theaters on the same night – all the while trying to keep his ideas from being stolen by a spying rival. The screening begins at 8 p.m. The evening will include organ music and a live tribute to 1930s movie music.

The Egyptian Theatre hosts the 10 best short films from the Emerging Cinematographer Awards, which was established by the International Cinematographers Guild. Starting at 7:30 p.m. is a discussion with the featured cinematographers, followed by the screenings at 8 p.m. Included in this lineup are Memoirs of a Parapsychologist, about a student who stays in a haunted house for a week on a bet, and King of Norway, about an estranged daughter who resolves to connect with a father who can't remember her after she learns that he's dying.
