The Death of Dick Long is the sophomore effort of Daniel Scheinert (Swiss Army Man—known colloquially as the “farting corpse movie”), a ribald comedy about the drummer in a small town Alabama garage band who expires after a night of heavy boozing, and his bandmates’ fumbling attempts to cover up the accident. A noir premise played for laughs, the film plumbs some poignant depths when it isn’t watching its slacker characters squirm like worms on a fishhook. Billy Chew penned the script.
