Opening at the Laemmle Town Center for one week, My Home India is a warmly humane documentary that recalls how 5,000 Polish refugees took refuge in India during WWII. The woman who coordinated this migration was Kira Banasinska, the wife of Poland’s consul general for India. Through a series of interviews, director Anjali Bhushan pieces together an emotional story that reveals and celebrates yet another unsung hero of the global conflict that changed the course of human history.

Laemmle Town Center, 17200 Ventura Blvd., Encino, Fri., Dec. 6, various showtimes; $9-$12. (310) 478-3836.
