The story of Virginia Walden Ford (Uzo Aduba), Miss Virginia delves into the life of the working-class mother in Washington, D.C. who fought the system to provide her teenage son with a decent private education. She formed a grassroots organization, D.C. Parents for School Choice, and took her fight to Congress where she won the approval to build the nation’s first scholarship program for low-income children. Matthew Modine, hair permanently tousled, plays the congressman who finally acquiesces to work with this formidable woman to affect change. R.J. Daniel Hanna directed this inspirational drama from a screenplay by Erin O’Connor.
