Loro is the latest epic from the consistently provocative Italian maestro Paolo Sorrentino. A flamboyant dive into the seedy life of Italian politician Silvio Berlusconi, the film frames the Italian media tycoon turned Prime Minister (played with brio by Toni Servillo) as an egomaniacal billionaire who managed to dominate Italian politics in the mid-2000s despite having no prior government or administrative experience. (Remind you of anyone?) As director, Sorrentino dazzles with a robust flow of arresting images while satirizing the human animal’s penchant for greed and corruption.
