Eat Drink Man Woman, Ang Lee’s incisive drama about three sisters trying to make a life for themselves in modern Tapei, earned an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film in 1995. Lee juxtaposes scenes of domestic strife with sharp comedic intrusions and luscious close-ups featuring traditional Chinese delicacies. It will screen for a single evening on three Laemmle screens as part of their Anniversary Classics series.
