Rider Killed in Fatal Accident on Interstate 880

HAYWARD, CA (May 11, 2021) – A motorcycle rider died early Saturday morning after a traffic accident on Interstate 880, near Mowry Avenue.

The accident happened around 5:44 a.m., on May 8. Emergency crews arrived to the area shortly after.

According to reports, a motorcycle was traveling at 80 to 90 mph on the road. Four or five CalTrans trucks were traveling about 5 mph as they swept debris from the center divider.

Despite the signs indicating that maintenance work was being done, the rider proceeded through the line of warning flares and collided with the rear of the truck.

As a result, the motorcycle rider died instantly at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims involved. More information will be released as it becomes available.
